Charity concert in Vilnius: 10 years of support for Ukraine

A large-scale charity concert was held on Lukiškė Square in Vilnius to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Blue/Yellow, one of the world's largest organisations supporting Ukrainians. The event brought together Lithuanian and Ukrainian artists, volunteers and concerned citizens to raise funds for humanitarian and medical aid to Ukraine.

Famous artists performed on the stage, including Bjelle, Monika Liu, G&G Sindikatas, Gabrielė Vilkickytė, Sisters on Wire, Samas and others. Ukrainian and Lithuanian songs were performed, including ‘Oh, there is a red viburnum in the meadow’ and ‘Stefania’, which symbolised the unity of the two nations in the fight for freedom.

The concert was accompanied by a charity auction of unique items from military brigades and the sale of themed merchandise.

All the funds raised will be used to support the civilian population of Ukraine affected by the war.

Jonas Oman, co-founder of Blue/Yellow, stressed the importance of long-term support:

‘In ten years, we have raised over €85 million. But we are here not for the sake of numbers, but for the sake of people who are waiting for help every day.

The organisers paid special attention to highlighting the difficult living conditions in the occupied cities of Ukraine. The broadcast of footage from these regions and the stories of volunteer doctors about their work in extreme conditions were intended to draw the attention of the international community to the urgent needs of the civilian population.

Laura Paukste, Director of Blue/Yellow, emphasised the expansion of the Blue/Yellow Medical initiative:

‘Our goal is not only to help the soldiers, but also to save as many civilian lives as possible, especially in regions inaccessible to traditional humanitarian organisations.

The concert was broadcast live on TV3 and online platforms, which allowed everyone to join the support campaign. Anyone could donate €10 by calling 1499 or via the organization's official website.

Over the ten years of its operation, Blue/Yellow has become a symbol of the Lithuanian people's solidarity with Ukraine. This year's anniversary concert not only marked an important milestone in the organisation's history, but also reminded the world of the ongoing need to support Ukraine and its citizens in their struggle for freedom and independence.

After the concert, the organisers announced an impressive result: €147,000 was raised. ’147,000 euros - THANK YOU!!!!’ - these were the words of the organisers to everyone who took part in the campaign. They also stressed that support for Blue/Yellow Medical will continue throughout October.

The goal is to continue raising funds to preserve the health of civilian Ukrainians affected by the war. The organisers urge not to forget about the possibility of making a contribution, reminding the numbers for donations: 1482 and 1499.

‘We and you are blue/yellow!’ - this call has become a symbol of unity and unwavering support for Ukraine. It reminds us that everyone can be part of a great cause by helping those who need it most.

This campaign demonstrates once again that solidarity and support know no borders, and even a small contribution can make a big difference in the lives of people in difficulty because of the war.
