Updated: Dec 6, 2024

The Prosecutor General's Office reported that the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into another war crime committed by the Russian military. According to preliminary data, six Ukrainian prisoners of war were shot in the Pokrovsky direction.

According to law enforcement officials, three Ukrainian soldiers were captured on October 23, 2024, during an offensive on the city of Selidove. Three more servicemen were captured on November 1 during fighting in the same direction. All of them were unarmed at the time of capture, but despite this, they were shot.

These actions are considered a violation of the Geneva Conventions, which guarantee the protection of prisoners of war. SBU investigators in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions took responsibility for investigating this crime.

According to the Ombudsman of Ukraine, the fact of the execution of prisoners of war indicates a systematic violation of international law by the Russian army.

Dmytro Lubinets appealed to the International Committee of the Red Cross and the UN with a request to document this case and include it in the list of war crimes of Russia.

This case is just one of the numerous war crimes committed by the Russian army. Ukraine emphasizes the inadmissibility of these crimes and draws the attention of the international community to this.

Since the beginning of Putin's rule, Russia has systematically violated the norms of international law, as evidenced by numerous war crimes.
