Tax refunds: A detailed guide on how to apply in Lithuania

At the end of each tax period in Lithuania, many Ukrainian employees have the opportunity to
get back some of their paid taxes for their period of employment. This process, although requiring some attention, is quite simple and can take only a few minutes of your time.

To get started, you need to log in to your account on the website, and the most

convenient way to do this is to do it through the bank. After that, you confirm your details using Smart ID. Next, you will be redirected to your personal account on the tax service, where you will find the appropriate link to fill out the declaration.

The declaration process allows you to report tax refunds for the previous year, as well as

also for the previous five years, if you have not done so before.

The rest of the filing process is as simple and straightforward as possible. You will need

to attach income documents, indicate sources of income, such as self-employment, rent, sale of property, etc.

After submitting the declaration, you indicate the account to be paid and make a co

responding request. It's important to remember that the tax refund deadline is 31 July, so you need to submit your application no later than March.

It is important to note that filing a tax refund is mandatory for all Ukrainians in Lithuania. Make
sure that your declaration is filled in correctly to avoid unnecessary delays and inconsistencies.
